The Mighty Ripples

Do a dive bomb.
Watch the ripples go round and round.
Spreading from the wharf to the middle of the lake.
Skimming the rock disturbs the mighty water.
Cheer up the lake
Remember you're great
Ripples from the bomb
Going round and round
Protect our precious lake!

Faster, Faster!

Whizzing down the hill on my bike, faster and faster I go. Here comes the speed wobbles WHOOSH.... I fly off my bike, my eyes filling with tears. My chin felt sore. I walked over to my awesome mum. "Oh..no! You've grazed your chin." Luckily we were just down the hill from our house. Walking painfully up the sloped hill then rubbed some t-tree oil on my aching knee which was so sore. I started to feel a lot better and I was soon back out there riding again.

It's Great To Be Me

Sometimes I wish I was someone else, but it's great to be me!
I have my likes and dislikes as everyone can see
I like my showers, but sometimes I prefer the bath
I like to be alone but I also like a crowd.
I am quite sensitive so don't be too loud.
All of us are special, as you can see.
You like you, I like you, but I also like me.

BY APRIL
The water
Slowly the water
Hunched shouldered with a wrinkled face
Arms spreading wider and wider advances
Finger tips guiding the way
Past the dark banks and dark rocks of rivers
Up the short river from the lake
Slowly the water
Seeking seeking
Arms stretched shoulders hunched
Searching searching
Out through the river to the sea
Slowly the water
A blind man leaping the river

The Big Win

At Lake Hayes one Sunday there was a rowing regatta and the small Wanaka rowing did wicked. I was one of the coxwain's and I won a medal in the women's open coxed quad in the #1 crew! Later on in the term there was the rowing prise-giving and I won coxwain of the year and I got a big shield for the year and a small trophy to keep for EVER! It all started when my dad convinced me to start coxing at about June 08. My first regatta was the Dunstan regatta and I did average.I'm really proud of my achievements

Buddies

As part of our celebration for World Environment Day we worked co operatively with our little buddies from Room 2 and Room 18. They came to our room and we worked together developing our pledges for the environment. The skills this revealed in the awesome students of Room 14 was of no surprise. Excellent communication skills, empathy for each others differences and supporting learning happening on many different levels. Very impressive!!! Well done Room 14. You are all stars and I am very proud of you.

Science Investigations

Air pollution, polluted water, natures recyclers and acid rain are some things we are investigating through science experiments. We make daily observations and discuss what we can and can't see happening. It has been vital to support our debates on environmental issues that we face here in New Zealand as well as around the world.

Green Lunches!

Check out how innovative we were with our green lunch boxes. We had to think about ways to protect our planet by reducing the use of throw away materials that our food comes in everyday.

World Environment Day Wearable Arts

Friday 5 June was World Environment Day
Everyone in Room 14 decided on celebrating this day by dressing up in wearable recyclable clothing, wearing earth colours and entering into a competition for the greenest lunch box. Wow did we have some fabulous ideas and creativity revealed. Take a look at some of the photos.
